while feedback is important, i think you should try to find a balance between what you want to make and what your fans want you to make. if you focus too much on the latter and not enough on how much you yourself are enjoying making music, then that's a quick way to burn yourself out. taking risks won't always pay of, in fact most of the time it probably wont. but when it does, it REALLY does.
